The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces stated on social media that during Russia’s attack on targets in Ukraine, there were “repeated violations of Polish airspace by drones.”
The military reported an operation to identify and neutralise the targets. On the commander’s orders, weapons were used and the downed drones were located.
Polish citizens were urged to stay at home during the military operation. The regions considered most at risk were Podlaskie, Mazowieckie and Lubelskie provinces.
At around 9 a.m., the command reported the completion of the air operation by Polish and allied forces. The Royal Netherlands Air Force took part in repelling the attack, with its F-35 fighter jets “helping ensure security in Polish airspace.”
According to Ukraine, at least eight Russian drones crossed Polish airspace. A private house was damaged by falling debris in Waryki (Lublin Province).
