The film Timestamp by director Kateryna Hornostay has been included in the annual Contenders programme, which is organised by the Film Department of the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA). The film will be screened on 23 November at 5 p.m. in Theater 1.
According to the museum’s website, each year the programme includes films that “resonate far beyond their theatrical or festival appearances — thanks to their structure, theme, language or other factors, but united by their lasting influence on cinema.”
The film was produced by Ukrainian company 2Brave Productions in collaboration with a_BAHN (Luxembourg) and Rinkel Film BV (Netherlands), with French company Cinephage Productions as associate producer. The film is based on an idea by Ukrainian educational organisation Osvitoria, which served as executive producer.
Timestamp is a documentary film about school life in Ukraine during the war — how students and teachers try to continue their education despite the danger.
The project was supported by Osvitoria, Film Fund Luxembourg, European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films (ESFUF), Eurimages, Région Sud — Provence-Alpes–Côte d’Azur, Nederlands Letterenfonds, IMS, Suspilne Broadcasting, Documenting Ukraine (IWM), Ukrainian Institute, Razom for Ukraine, and the International Renaissance Foundation.
