The Ukrainian design community Design4Ukraine has become a full member of the International Council of Design (ICoD). From now on, Ukraine is officially part of the international professional network of design organisations.

ICoD membership opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian designers, including participation in international discussions, working groups, joint initiatives, and the presentation of Ukrainian experience on a global level.

Design4Ukraine’s collaboration with the international design community began in 2017, when the organisation first celebrated World Design Day, established by the International Council of Design in 1995. At that time, the initiative was a small gathering of friends and colleagues, and the idea of joining the international council seemed almost unattainable.

Nine years later, Design4Ukraine officially became a member of the International Council of Design. The organisation emphasises that this is an important step towards integrating the Ukrainian design community into the global professional context.

Membership was made possible thanks to the support of the British Council Ukraine Creative Economy Development grant programme, which aims to strengthen creative hubs and industry associations as key institutions for the development of Ukraine’s cultural and creative industries.
