NABU and SAPO have expanded the list of suspects in a corruption scheme linked to development in Lutsk.
As reported on NABU’s website, new suspicions have been served on the head of one of the factions in the Volyn Regional Council and the council’s first deputy chair.
According to the investigation, the leaders of two factions in the regional council agreed with a former MP on a bribe of $140,000. In return, the officials promised to secure the adoption of decisions needed to build a block of flats in the city. Of this amount, $110,000 was intended for regional council deputies, and a further $30,000 for the leaders of two factions in the Lutsk City Council.
NABU said that the deputies brought the regional council’s first deputy chair into the scheme. Investigators have already documented the transfer and distribution of parts of the bribe totalling $110,000 and $15,000.
In total, six people have been served with suspicions in the case. They are accused of receiving an unlawful benefit by an official on an especially large scale.
