On 25 August and overnight into 26 August, Ukrainian forces struck a number of military facilities belonging to Russian forces in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The targets hit included a Kasta radar station, a drone training centre, a repair base and Russian depots.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
In Kacha, in temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukrainian forces hit a Kasta radar station. These systems are used to detect aerial targets and control the airspace.
In temporarily occupied Luhansk, a UAV training centre for Russian troops came under attack. Another facility — the occupiers’ repair-and-recovery base — was hit in Pervomayske in Crimea.
In addition, Ukrainian forces struck several Russian depots. These included a fuel and lubricants depot in Prychepylivka, Luhansk Region, and logistics depots in Svobodne, Donetsk Region, and Novoivanivka in occupied Crimea.
Ammo depots were also hit in Staryy Krym and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk Region.
Separately, the General Staff reported that a relay station for Russian Geran/Gerbera drones was hit in Chornomorske in Crimea. The extent of the damage is being clarified.
- The Kasta radar is used by air defence and the air force, detecting targets at extremely low, low and medium altitudes. This includes aircraft, helicopters, missiles and drones. The radar’s detection range reaches 150 km, and its altitude coverage is up to 6 km.
