Russian forces launched a massive airstrike on Kramatorsk in Donetsk Region. Residential areas and apartment blocks in the city came under attack.
Kramatorsk Mayor Oleksandr Honcharenko reported the attack on Facebook.
According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration head Vadym Filashkin, as of 14:40, at least 19 people were injured in the morning attack. A two-month-old baby was among those injured.
According to preliminary information, the Russian army struck the city eight times. Aircraft bombs were likely used in the attack. At least 34 apartment buildings, three administrative buildings and an infrastructure facility were damaged.
Emergency and municipal services are working at the sites of the strikes. Specialists are assessing the extent of the destruction and the consequences of the Russian attack.
- Over the course of 24 August, Russian forces carried out more than 1,300 strikes across Donetsk Region. As a result of the shelling, 15 civilians were injured, including two children. Among the injured, one person is from Kramatorsk.
- In total, 37 sites were damaged, including 33 residential buildings, an educational institution and an infrastructure facility.
