On the night of 28 August, the Russian army launched 164 drones of various types at Ukraine. Air defences neutralised 137 of them.

The Air Force reported this

“On the night of 28 August (from 18:00 on 27 August), the enemy attacked with 164 Shahed-type strike UAVs (half of them jet-powered), Gerbera drones and ‘Parodiya’ decoy drones from the following directions: Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo – Russian Federation, temporarily occupied Donetsk, Hvardiiske – temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” the statement said. 

The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 09:00 air defences shot down and suppressed 137 enemy Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera drones and drones of other types in the north, south, east and centre of the country.

As of the morning of 28 August, the attack is ongoing, with around 10 enemy UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace. 

  • Yesterday during the day, from 07:00 to 19:00, Russia launched 140 drones at Ukraine. The main direction of the strike was Kyiv Region and Kyiv. Defenders shot down 120 drones.
