On 14 September at 20:30, the Ukrainian-Polish film Gorky Resort by Polish director Łukasz Palkowski will be screened outdoors in Polygon Park in the town of Florești (Romania) as part of an initiative by the Transilvania International Film Festival – TIFF Florești, which will run from 11 to 20 September. This is reported by the State Film Agency.
According to the synopsis, the plot of Gorky Resort is based on real events that unfold in 1939. After the invasion of Poland, Soviet troops capture members of the Polish intelligentsia and hold them in a former sanatorium converted into a prisoner-of-war camp. At the centre is a psychological confrontation between Polish pianist Karol Grabowski and an NKVD agent. The agent tries to break Grabowski’s will and force him to cooperate.
The film is a co-production between Poland, Ukraine and Ireland. It was made with the participation of the Ukrainian company Solar Media Entertainment and its general producer Serhii Lavreniuk, with support from the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema.
In Ukraine, Gorky Resort will be released in cinemas on 10 September.
