The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed, during their meeting, the deployment of local assembly lines for long-range SCALP missiles on Ukrainian territory.
As stated on the UK government website, these missiles use British technology. In effect, SCALP is the British version of the French Storm Shadow missiles.
Andy Burnham and Emmanuel Macron also noted the successful outcomes of the recent meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Kyiv.
- In July, it became known that Ukraine is receiving licences to produce SCALP missiles, AASM bombs and, jointly with Italy, Aster 30 missiles as well.
- SCALP is capable of striking targets up to 240 km deep inside Russia.
- The missiles are all-weather and equipped with modern navigation systems. SCALP’s speed is up to 1,500 km/h. Ukraine launches them from Sukhoi aircraft.
