The Verkhovna Rada expects to pass several bills important to Ukrainians’ health by the end of the year. In particular, a bill on reproductive health, which MPs have been unable to consider for several years.

A draft law submitted by MPs failed to pass in the chamber. A government bill is already ready and is among this year’s priorities for both the government and the Rada, said the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Public Health, Medical Care and Medical Insurance, Mykhailo Radutskyi, at an LB Talks event held jointly with the company Darnytsia on the topic “What Is Ukraine Dying From?”.

The second important law concerns social guarantees for medical professionals. This bill has remained in the Rada since 2023. The need for it has become more acute because of cases of attacks on medical staff

“A doctor, a nurse, or a pharmacist, when going to work, should be thinking about how to help a person. Not whether they will be attacked or not, or whether their child will have enough money for school,” Mykhailo Radutskyi commented.

Several other laws are also expected to improve the situation. Among the priorities are a bill on cross-border healthcare and one aimed at preventing minors from smoking.

“We have a very important law that is also planned for this year. It will make it possible to conduct clinical trials properly, including in pharmaceuticals, and will remove Soviet-era restrictions,” the head of the профиль committee announced.
