Every Ukrainian region has its own particular approach to health. Whatever the state policy may be, everything depends on how it is implemented locally: whether health parks are used, whether primary care is being developed, whether a healthy lifestyle is promoted, and whether healthy school meals are properly organised.
This was stated by the head of the National Health Service Natalia Husak at an LB Talks event held jointly with the company Darnytsia on the topic “What Is Ukraine Dying From?”. She noted that local leaders should be invited into the discussion, rather than blaming the Minister of Health for everything.
“It’s very convenient to say that the Minister of Health is to blame for how many Ukrainians are dying — I’m not exaggerating; this comes from a sociological survey,” she said.
Husak called for health issues to be raised with communities and for them to be brought into the discussion.
“There are enough powers, including in many areas that bring more life and health to communities. But the sense of that responsibility is in rather short supply,” the head of the National Health Service said.
