On the night of 13 October, starting from 18:00, Russia attacked Ukraine with five Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles launched from Bryansk Region. It also launched nine loitering munitions of the Banderol/Dan-T type and 108 Shahed-type attack UAVs (74 of them jet-powered).

The drones were launched from the directions of Oryol, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from occupied Donetsk and Crimea. This was reported by the Air Force.

“According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defence shot down/suppressed 88 enemy Shahed-type UAVs (58 of them jet-powered), Gerbera, and drones of other types,” the statement said.

Hits by the enemy’s air attack assets were recorded at 17 locations, and falling debris at seven locations.

In addition, hits by loitering munitions were recorded in the city of Kharkiv. Some of them did not reach their targets.

  • Using ballistic weapons, the Russians struck Kyiv. The first explosions were heard even before the air-raid alert. Presidential adviser Serhii Beskrestnov (Flash) noted that the Russians may have used the S-400 specifically, as it is harder to detect than other missiles with a ballistic trajectory. Overall, information about ballistic launches is passed to Ukraine by the United States.
  • The occupiers attacked Kharkiv with “Banderol” munitions. At least three people were killed there.
