The Verkhovna Rada has summoned Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko to deliver a report. A total of 151 MPs voted in favour of the proposal by MP Mariana Bezuhla, according to the live broadcast of the sitting.

Bezuhla noted that parliamentarians have not heard from Klitschko even once. She added that summoning him is not a matter of political parties or forces.

The Speaker put the proposal to summon him to a vote, and it was backed by a sufficient number of MPs. Klitschko is due to attend on 14 October at 12 o’clock.

“Please prepare and inform him that we will be waiting for him,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

The summoning of the capital’s mayor comes against the backdrop of power supply disruptions caused by Russian strikes. Blackouts and voltage surges led to several stoppages of the metro and multi-hour interruptions to the water supply.

Klitschko explained that all of the city’s own electricity generation has been destroyed, leaving it fully dependent on the nationwide system.

At the same time, the city authorities are being accused of insufficient preparation for new strikes on the energy sector. Serhii Sukhomlyn, former head of the Recovery Agency, among other things questioned the decision to restore CHP plants rather than build an extensive network of small facilities for heating.
