NSDC Secretary Ihor Klymenko held a meeting on optimising and speeding up the process of identifying the bodies of fallen Ukrainian service personnel.
According to Klymenko, a special interagency commission is being established under the NSDC to coordinate the actions of all state bodies. It will oversee the resolution of problematic issues and ensure that the relevant services work in a coordinated manner.
In addition, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are forming specialised interagency teams in the regions. They will include trained forensic medical experts, investigators, operatives and forensic specialists from the National Police, who will focus exclusively on identifying the bodies of the defenders.
Participants in the meeting also discussed standardising expert examination methodologies and a new Ministry of Health resolution, which will come into force soon and will regulate these processes.
Meanwhile, the Verkhovna Rada is expected to consider a revised draft law intended to improve the search for missing persons and the identification of bodies under martial law, and to allow international specialists, technical assistance and additional resources to be brought in for this work.
