The United States is sharing intelligence with Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a briefing in Oslo.

He noted that he discussed the matter with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio this morning. It can now be stated that the data exchange is under way.

“We are grateful that intelligence is working. I spoke about this early this morning, that it is very important for our people: children, adults, civilians. Because we can hear when ballistic missiles are approaching. So I am grateful to the American side — it is working,” he said.

They also discussed Starlink and Patriot with Rubio. Ukraine hopes to receive updated information on this later.

Context

Last week and this week, amid intensified US pressure on Ukraine, during several ballistic attacks Ukraine did not receive early warning. Restrictions on Starlink usage speeds also began. As a result, Ukraine lost the ability to shoot down jet-powered interceptor drones and to carry out some operations against the enemy in occupied territory. Zelenskyy stressed that Starlink was not used for deep strikes on Russia.

In the United States, officials denied that they had deliberately stopped sharing intelligence. Rubio said the reason was technical problems.

However, there were earlier instances of intelligence sharing being halted amid a deterioration in relations between Kyiv and Washington — last year.
