The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft law from the Ministry of Energy introducing a temporary ban on collecting tax debts from state-owned coal and uranium mining companies.

The Ministry of Energy said the amendments to the Tax Code are intended to support the operations of enterprises such as “SkhidGZK”, “Dobropillia Coal Mining”, “Lvivvuhillia”, “Volynvuhillia” and “Regional Electricity Networks” during the war. The decision will also help preserve jobs for more than 10,000 industry specialists, the ministry said.

The plan is to defer debt collection for the entire period of martial law and for a further six months after it ends or is lifted.

This will allow the companies to direct available funds towards urgent production needs, timely salary payments to employees, and the relocation of state property from dangerous areas.

The draft law must now be approved by parliament.
