A Ukrainian delegation set off for Oleshky today, 29 October. It is led by Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets.

This was reported by Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction. Updates on the operation will be provided once communications are available.

“A Ukrainian delegation led by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets set off today towards Oleshky. We will monitor the situation and report on the progress of the operation as soon as communications become available,” he said.

Later, Dmytro Lubinets confirmed that he had travelled to Oleshky.

“Ahead of us is the delivery of humanitarian aid to people who remain in the city, and work to ensure that people are able to leave safely,” he said.

Humanitarian Operation in Oleshky

Since 27 October, a humanitarian ceasefire has been established in occupied Oleshky and the surrounding area. The arrangements were reached with the mediation of US First Lady Melania Trump.

An evacuation of civilians is planned in Oleshky. According to preliminary information, the Russian side will take everyone to territory under its control, but, it is claimed, Ukrainians who want to travel to Ukraine’s free territory will later be able to do so via Belarus. There is no official confirmation of this plan — excerpts of the agreement were published by the Fox News channel.

The ceasefire is due to last until 22:59 on 1 November. As of this morning, no violations of the arrangements had been recorded.

Oleshky had been under Russian occupation for years, and this year the enemy worsened the humanitarian situation there so severely that people went hungry. Ukraine dropped food and essential supplies several times by drone. There are reports that the occupiers confiscated them.

Ukraine asked for the evacuation process to be overseen by the American side.
