As of the morning of 29 October, demining is continuing along the routes needed to carry out the humanitarian mission in Oleshky. Humanitarian aid is planned to be delivered to the city on 30 October.

This was written by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.

“In parallel, we are already assembling the humanitarian cargo, which we plan to deliver to Oleshky tomorrow,” he said.

The ceasefire has already been in place for 54 hours. It began on 27 October at 03:00 Kyiv time. And, according to Lubinets, the sides are fully adhering to the agreed arrangements, and no violations of the ceasefire have been recorded.

“This has been made possible, in particular, thanks to constant communication between me and the Human Rights Commissioner in the Russian Federation, Yana Lantratova. We are staying in touch and coordinating the implementation of the agreements reached. I would also like to thank the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, who is personally devoting her time and attention to the humanitarian mission and to helping civilians in Oleshky,” the ombudsman noted.

He added that work to implement the agreements is continuing, and the task is to deliver humanitarian aid to people who remain in the city and to ensure the possibility of civilians leaving safely.

On 25 October, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine and Russia had agreed on the timing of a ceasefire to carry out a humanitarian mission in Oleshky.

  • The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, and her representative, who worked directly with the leadership of Ukraine and Russia, were involved in agreeing the terms of the ceasefire. On 27 October, Melania Trump said that the local ceasefire zone between Ukraine and Russia had expanded beyond the occupied city of Oleshky.
  • The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said that an extremely difficult humanitarian situation currently persists not only in occupied Oleshky, but also in dozens of other settlements near the line of contact.
