The internal procedures of the EU for the approval of a visa-free regime for Ukraine will be completed no later than October, the Speaker of the Parliament Andriy Parubiy said 27 September as quoted by his press office.

"Ukraine hopes that all internal procedures in the EU to introduce visa-free regime for Ukrainians will be completed by October end. Ukraine has taken the path of reforms through the European aspirations of the Ukrainian people. Therefore, we are very serious on this issue and look forward to close cooperation with the European Union," Paruby said at a meeting with head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine, Hugh Mingarelli.

During the negotiations, the sides confirmed their mutual interest in the development of strategic relations between Ukraine and the EU.

In the previous day, the European Parliament's committee voted for the abolition of visas for Ukrainians. After the LIBE Committee, the issue of visa-free regime in October will be considered by the session of the European Parliament.

Following that, the decision is to be approved by the EU Council.

The visa-free regime policy will become effective on the 21st day after the approval or after the date indicated in the resolution.
