A number of formalities remained.The European Union expects that the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement between will come into force in full on September 1. "The process of ratification of the Agreement has been practically completed, and all 28 EU countries have ratified it, the agreement will reach the implementation stage starting on September 1," head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli, told reporters on Monday in Kiev, responding to an Interfax-Ukraine question.
He stressed the importance of the document as it will promote the policy of association and integration of the Ukrainian economy into the European market.
Earlier, the last of the EU countries, the Netherlands, have ratified the Ukraine – EU deal.
The Netherlands should send the ratification documents to the EU, after which the EU Council must finally announce the completion of all formalities in the ratification process. The document will enter into force on the first day of the second month upon the completion of all procedures.
Since 2014, the Ukraine - EU Association Agreement has operated on a temporary basis.
