Agrarian Policy Ministry improves grain forecast

The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has improved grain harvest forecast by 5% up to 63.1m tonnes in 2018, its first deputy head Maksym Martynyuk has said on Facebook.

“The growth will be achieved thanks to a group of later grain crops. Weather conditions have been far from perfect but losses were fragmentary. As a result, we have a decent ratio of food wheat to fodder at 60 to 40,” he said.

The ministry has also improved the export forecast to 42m tonnes.

“It is good news as it is but the international situation (low crops in supplying countries, higher prices) upgrades it to ‘perfect’,” he said.
