Russian terrorist forces shelled bombing used a multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) "Grad" at the territory of the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology.

The press center of the regional department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region has reported about this.

A research nuclear installation "Neutron Source", with 37 nuclear fuel cells that were loaded in the active zone, is located in The National Research Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology. The destruction of nuclear installation and storage facilities for nuclear materials could have led to a large-scale environmental catastrophe, the SSU note.

SSU investigators have opened criminal proceedings under the article "Ecocide" (Article 441 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) in the Kharkiv region.

"The SSU continues to collect evidence to The Hague," - the intelligence service stated.

Let's remind, earlier the Russian troops shelled Energodar and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station located in the city therefore on the territory of the nuclear power plant the fire began. The station staff was not injured. Three Ukrainian military defenders were killed and two others were wounded.

The reactor building of the ZNPP Power Unit 1 was damaged as a result of artillery shelling of the ZNPP industrial site. Two artillery shells hit the area of dry storage of spent nuclear fuel.

State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) stated that the degree of damage to the structures and systems of these nuclear facilities and their impact on safety requires additional assessments based on the results of thorough inspections by special services.

The building of the training center, located directly to the ZNPP industrial site, received extensive damage.
