A special unit of the National Guard launched a counterattack near Mariupol, which destroyed 3 enemy tanks, 4 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), 2 Tigers, and about thirty occupiers. Two were taken prisoner.

The adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Gerashchenko reported the news on Telegram.

Once in captivity, the Russians repeated the familiar line: "We didn't know where we were being sent." They knew everything. Two of the Russians, a tank driver and a platoon commander, chose to surrender. Other crews in the broken convoy of armored vehicles remained in burning tanks," Gerashchenko wrote.

According to him, prisoners urge other soldiers and officers who come to Ukraine not to commit war crimes and to surrender.

Earlier, the mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boychenko said in an interview that thousands of civilians had been wounded. The Russians had promised to open a humanitarian corridor for Mariupol residents, but failed to stop shooting and shelling. Civilians are hiding in basements, they are running out of food and medicine and their mobile connection is generally not working.
