The evacuation convoy with civilians was prevented from leaving Mariupol due to Russian shelling. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk regional administration Pavlo Kyrylenko."The evacuation convoy with the local population could not leave Mariupol today: the Russians began regrouping their forces and heavy shelling of the city. It is extremely dangerous to take people out in such conditions," he wrote. According to him, the convoy with humanitarian cargo, which left Zaporizhia for Mariupol on 6 March, has not yet reached its destination and is currently on its way.

Earlier on 6 March, it was reported that buses to evacuate civilians had left for Mariupol, which has been under siege for several days because of the Russian invaders. On 5 March, the Russians promised to open a humanitarian corridor for Mariupol residents, but did not stop shelling and airstrikes. The citizens are hiding in basements, they are running out of food and medicine and mobile communication is generally not working.
