Ukraine and Russia, with the facilitation from the International Committee of the Red Cross, agreed on a ceasefire to evacuate the civilians. The military agreed to ceasefire today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to create humanitarian corridors.

The routes are Enerhodar-Zaporizhzhia, Sumy-Poltava, Mariupol-Zaporizhzhia, Volnovakha-Pokrovsk, Izium-Lozova, Vorzel, Bucha, Borodianka, Irpin, Hostomel - Kyiv. Iryna Vereschuk, the minister for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories, announced it during the briefing on the morning of March 9.

“I am addressing the Russian Federation - you have made official public commitments to ceasefire from 9 a.m. on 9 March 2022. We had a negative experience when the commitments were not kept. This was on the routes Mariupol-Zaporizhzhia and Volnovakha-Pokrovsk. The residents of Volnovakha are pleading that today the Russian Federation’s promise would be fulfilled and people could leave the places where they are hiding from the devastating shelling,” Vereschuk said.

She specifically noted that in Vorzel, there are 55 children and 26 staff members in the orphanage. Ukraine asks Russia to keep all the commitments made and cease the fire from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., as agreed.

Yesterday the evacuation was carried out in Sumy. 5000 people were transported to Poltava.
