5,000 people evacuated from Sumy on Tuesday, Tymoshenko

The evacuation of civilians, who are suffering from the invasion of the Russian occupants, from the city of Sumy will continue on Wednesday, 9 March. Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on his Telegram channel.

The humanitarian corridor will be open from 9:00 to 21:00. 

"Buses will be involved in the evacuation, and private cars can also move in the convoy. We ask drivers to take the maximum number of people with them," he said. 

Wednesday night Tymoshenko also stated that about 5,000 people and more than 1,000 private cars were successfully evacuated from Sumy on 8 March. Thus, he added, the first two stages of evacuation from this city were successful.

The first convoy of 22 buses arrived in Poltava. These were 1,100 foreign students who will continue to be evacuated by train to Lviv.

The second evacuation convoy of 39 buses also arrived in the Poltava region. These are children, women, the elderly, foreign students.

"People will be able to stay in Poltava, if they wish to, or continue the evacuation to Lviv", - Tymoshenko wrote

Drivers of civilian vehicles have also used the humanitarian corridor.
