"To deliver bulletproof vests and helmets to Ukraine, the KS-767 aircraft took off from Komaki Air Base. The Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces will continue to make every effort to help Ukraine," the statement said.
Earlier, Japan also announced that it was ready to accept refugees from Ukraine. Also, due to Russia's war with Ukraine, Japan implemented sanctions on 49 Russian companies, organizations, and institutions. In addition to the organizations, the Japanese sanctions targeted Russian President Volodymyr Putin, Deputy Chairman of Security Council Dmytro Medvedev, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serhiy Lavrov, Minister of Defense, Serhiy Shoihu, and Chief of General Staff Valeriy Herasymov.
We should recall that the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida stated that the South Kuril Islands are the sovereign territory of his state. Furthermore, he emphasized that Russia had occupied the lands of the Southern Kuril Islands after World War II.
On 28 February 2022, during a debate in the Japanese parliament, Hideki Uyama, director of the European Department of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, said that Russia had occupied the southern part of the Kuril Islands, which is contrary to international law, as it was the attack on Ukraine.
