Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said that the state is forming new reserves and accumulating resources so that the army will be provided with everything it needs for both defense and further liberation of the occupied territories.
He declared this in his video statement.
"The heroic people of Ukraine! For two decades we have been fighting our own war.... The first regular auction for the sale of military bonds worth 6.6bn hryvnyas took place yesterday. The National Bank of Ukraine also approved the decision to buy the government's military bonds for another 20bn hryvnyas. Thanks to the efforts of the President of Ukraine, the government and diplomats, more and more countries are joining the pro-Ukrainian coalition. Dozens of countries and organizations are helping us - financially, humanistically, militarily," the premier said.
He said that yesterday the USA increased the potential aid package for Ukraine from 10bn dollars to 12bn dollars, which will be considered by the Congress right away. The World Bank also approved an aid package of over 700m dollars for Ukraine.
Also today the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced that Ukraine will receive a 2bn dollar "stability package". Within a year or two the International Monetary Fund will consider providing 1.4bn dollars of emergency aid to Ukraine.
"Next week we expect the first tranche of 300m euros of macro financial support from the European Union, which has granted us 1.2bn euros on short notice. Within a week - the second tranche", - explained Schmyhal.
He praised the enterprises and companies that today, in time of war, pay taxes, pay wages to their employees and also support the army.
As of March 5, the special account for the needs of the Ukrainian army has received more than 10bn hryvnias. Approximately 2.8bn hryvnias were received from abroad in foreign currencies.
