EU countries will consider granting Ukraine candidate status in the near future - Shmygal

In the next few days, EU countries will discuss the possibility of granting Ukraine candidate status, announced Ukrainian Prime Minister in his address to Ukrainians.

"In the next few days, EU countries will discuss granting Ukraine candidate status. This will be one of the EU and European history turning points for years to come. Of course, we are eagerly expecting this moment, and we are calling upon European leaders and all European citizens to support Ukraine now. Ukraine earned its right to become a member of the European Union," declared Shmygal.

The Prime Minister thanked the allies for their support of Ukraine and called for further steps to isolate Russia. "The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress approved a 13.6 bn dollar emergency support fund for Ukraine. These funds will strengthen our army, support our people, and respond to humanitarian needs. We thank our American friends for their support.

We also thank our friends and partners worldwide for isolating Russia. We thank the companies that left the Russian markets, and we thank the EU leaders for the newest sanctions against Russia. The aggressor has realized that the world is against it, and it will only get worse."

According to the Minister of Defense Olexiy Reznikov, as of 10 March, Russian forces killed more Ukrainian civilians than service members.
