Ukrainian football authority to strip renegade player of awards

The Ethics and Fair Play Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) has made a statement about violations of the Code of Ethics and Fair Play by former national team player Anatoliy Tymoschuk, the UAF press service.

"Pursuant to Article 62 of the UAF Disciplinary Rules, according to the review and verification of information dated Mach 8, 2022 on possible violations of the Code of Ethics and Fair Play by Anatoliy Tymoschuk, the UAF Ethics and Fair Play Committee requests the following:

Anatoliy Tymoschuk, born on March 30, 1979, is a record holder of the number of matches held in the national team of Ukraine, champion of Ukraine, Germany, Russia, winner of the UEFA Champions League, winner of the UEFA Super Cup. During 2007-2009 and 2013-2015 Tymoschuk played for the Russian FC “Zenit” (St. Petersburg) and since 2017 he has been working in the club as a coach.

Since the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, Anatoliy Tymoschuk, the former captain of the Ukrainian national team, has not only made any public statements in this regard, nor has he stopped his cooperation with the aggressor's club. By making this conscious choice, Anatoliy Tymoschuk damages the image of Ukrainian football and violates Clause 1.4. Part 1 of Art. 4 of the Code of Ethics and Fair Play UAF.

In view of the above, the UAF Ethics and Fair Play Committee requests the following:

recognize Anatoliy Tymoschuk, born on March 30, 1979, as violating clause 1.4. Part 1 of Art. 4 of the Code of Ethics and Fair Play UAF.
