Today, the chairman of the National Bank, Kyrylo Shevchenko, announced on the social network Facebook that the International Monetary Fund had transferred 1.4bn dollars to Ukraine under the Rapid Financing Instrument emergency support program.
"Funds under this program will help finance the priority expenditures of the state budget and maintain Ukraine's payments balance," the statement said.
The Ministry of Finance as Ukraine's financial agent in relations with the Fund, will make the final decision on the use of funds by Ukraine.
Last night, the International Monetary Fund approved the provision of 1.4bn dollars of urgent financial assistance to Ukraine against the background of its fight against the Russian Federation's military invasion.
Earlier, NBU Chairman Kyrylo Shevchenko addressed the IMF to restrict Russia in access to the Fund's resources. Ukraine also asks the G7 countries to exclude Russia and Belarus from the IMF and World Bank organizations.
