Juris Jurašs, a member of the Latvian Seimas from the Conservative Party, wrote a statement about leaving his seat and came to Ukraine to volunteer.

"Ukraine is now fighting not only for its freedom but also for ours - in particular, Latvia and the European Union. "I believe it is our duty to do our utmost to promote our common victory," he said. - Some accept refugees, some buy everything they need. I myself could not stay in Latvia, knowing what is happening here."
Jurašs graduated from the Latvian Police Academy and for several years headed the operational development department of the Office for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption.
In his country, the politician held the position of chairman of the legal commission of the Latvian Seimas, was the leader of the Conservative faction. He has been in Ukraine for a week, first in Lviv, then in Kyiv. As early as Tuesday, he remotely chaired a meeting of the Seimas' legal commission, and on Thursday he assisted in the evacuation of Ukrainians.
On 27 February, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on all foreigners who want to protect security in Europe to join the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine.
On 28 February, the Foreign Legion of Volunteers was formed. On the same day, the President of Ukraine signed Decree №82 / 2022 on the introduction of a visa-free regime for foreigners who will help protect Ukraine from Russian aggression.
As of March 6, 22,000 volunteers from 52 countries volunteered to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression.
