Sanctions imposed on Russia are not enough. Their violent plans are not yet ruined, - Zelenskyy

Sanctions, imposed by the global community on Russia, are not enough for Moscow to stop the war against Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an address to the leaders of the Joint Expeditionary Force - the Prime Minister of the United Kingdon Boris Johnson, heads of Baltic countries, and Northern Europe.

“Russia’s state-sponsored propagandists repeat, that the war against Ukraine is only the beginning. Other European countries are next, - he mentioned. - They talk about it when sanctions are already imposed. When the world leaders are united in condemning Russia's aggression. That means that imposed sanctions are not sufficient. That means that violent plans are not yet ruined.” According to the Ukrainian President, there is an explanation why Russia continues the war.

“The world is silent about two Nuclear Power Plants captured by Russian forces. They shelled the largest nuclear power station in Europe. They jeopardized the safety of the facilities in Chornobyl, the NPP confinement covering and storage facilities for spent nuclear fuel. Did they get any response? No”, emphasized Zelenskyy.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reiterated that many of the world's biggest companies have not left the Russian market yet.

“They are not worried about 97 children killed. Nestle hasn’t suspended trading in Russia. They do not count how many cities are destroyed by missiles, aerial bombs, and artillery. Philip Morris continues profiting. They do not pay attention to more than 800 Russian rockets that have already struck Ukraine. Raiffeisen and other banks are transferring money that is already soaked in blood,” he stated. “Among the companies that announced that they have left the Russian market, there are companies that don’t even fire anyone. What does it mean? It’s a deception. Just like the deception with the closed sky over Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian President is sure that if the international sanctions were strengthened, the aggressor country could not even think about the war. “The Russian navy must be banned from using the world’s harbors. Russian banks should be completely cut off from SWIFT. Russia should be recognized as a terrorist country because it really is. We need an embargo on any kind of trade with Russia,” he said. “I emphasize, you need this as much as we do. For peace in Ukraine, for peace in Europe.”

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson is convinced that the West made a terrible mistake by letting Vladimir Putin get away with annexing Crimea and invading Ukraine in 2014. That is why he believes, that Russia should have no revenue from trading oil and gas.
