NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has convened an emergency summit of the North Atlantic Alliance over the situation in Ukraine. The summit will take place on 24 March in Brussels.
"I convened an extraordinary summit on 24 March at NATO Headquarters. We will consider Russia's invasion of Ukraine, our strong support for Ukraine and further strengthening of NATO deterrence and defense. At this critical time, North America and Europe must continue to stand side by side," he wrote on Twitter.

USA President Joe Biden will attend the NATO summit in Brussels next week, the US Permanent Agency to NATO said.
According to White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, Biden will discuss Russia's deterrence at the summit.
Ukraine has been invited to take part in a meeting of NATO defense ministers on 16 March.
The meeting will be attended by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, as well as his colleagues from Georgia, Finland, Sweden and the EU.
