About 20,000 people have left Mariupol via the humanitarian corridor, announced the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kirill Tymoshenko on his Telegram page.

He noted that out of 4,000 cars that had left the city, 570 had already arrived in Zaporizhia.

"Others will stay overnight in the villages and hamlets of Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions. Everyone is being helped," Tymoshenko added.

On 15 March, 29,000 people were evacuated from the blocked cities.

As of 2pm on Tuesday, 15 March, 2,000 cars had left Mariupol and were travelling in the direction of Zaporizhia. 2,000 more cars were parked at the city limits.

During the day, there have been humanitarian corridors running in nine directions.
