Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky asked Israel not to be unconcerned and to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons to fight the war against Russia. He said this during a speech to Knesset deputies. He recalled that Russian troops are attacking cities where many Jewish citizens of Ukraine now reside.
"Everyone in Israel knows that your missile defense is the best. It's powerful. Everyone knows that your weapons are strong. Everyone knows that you are great. You know how to stand up for your interests, for the interests of your people. And you can help us protect our lives, the lives of Ukrainians, the lives of Ukrainian Jews," - Zelensky stressed.
At the same time, the head of state stressed that Israel's current refusal to impose tough sanctions against Russia and to provide arms to Ukraine is something the Israeli people will have to live with later.
Can be long to ask why we can't get weapons from you. Or why Israel has not imposed powerful sanctions against Russia. Why doesn't pressurize Russian business. But you, dear brothers and sisters, still have to choose the answer. And you, the people of Israel, will have to live with this answer," - Zelenskiy noted.
Recently, 85 prominent Ukrainian Jews appealed to the Israeli government and the Knesset to cancel additional procedures that have made it more difficult for Ukrainians to enter, including those seeking shelter from hostilities, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing the relevant text of the statement.
