The promoter of the absolute lightweight champion George Cambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) Lou DiBella in an interview with BoxingScene said that the former world champion in three weight categories Vasyl Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) refused to leave Ukraine for the title fight with his client.
"I spoke with Egis Klimas (Lomachenko's manager - LB.ua), and he confirmed that Loma will not be able to fight George. He thanked Kambosos and me for giving us time to think.
When the Ukrainian government announced that it was ready to release Lomachenko, but Vasyl himself did not comment, we suspected that he would most likely stay at home. So we weren't shocked," DiBella said.
"We admire his act. We believe that the fight he is currently participating in is much more important than any boxing match," said Cambosos' promoter.
