The Belarusian government decided to expel some of the Ukrainian diplomats and close the Consulate General of Ukraine in Brest.

On Wednesday, March 23, it was reported in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, reports State Agency "BelTA."

"The Ukrainian Embassy will continue to work in Belarus in the format of 1 + 4, that is, the ambassador and four employees," - said Anatolii Hlaz, the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

The activities of a number of employees of the Ukrainian Embassy and the Consulate General were incompatible with diplomatic status, said in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

In addition, as stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Belarus allowed until April 15 visa-free entry from Ukraine to citizens of this country and other states trying to leave the area of combat actions.

The day before, Belarus called 19 employees of the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk as "spies". Oleh Nikolenko, speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine denied the information that "reconnaissance men worked undercover at the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus."

He also stressed that such statements "increasingly complicate bilateral relations" between Ukraine and Belarus.
