American senators Michael Bennet and Rob Portman are introducing a bill to repurpose funds from seized Russian assets for a relief fund benefitting Ukrainian refugees and Ukraine's reconstruction. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Axios.
The bill, dubbed the Relief for Ukraine Act, stands for repurposing elite luxuries into Emergency Funds. It would direct money to support Ukrainian refugees and Ukraine’s reconstruction. The fund would be administered by the State Department, in consultation with the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Earlier, leaders of both parties of the US Congress reached an agreement to increase aid to Ukraine and European allies to $ 13.6 billion.
