President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the defenders of Ukraine keep pushing back the russian occupiers in the Kyiv region. He thanked for the liberation of Irpin.
"Wise people of a strong country! Today we have good news. Our defenders are advancing in the Kyiv region, regaining control over Ukrainian territory. Irpin was liberated. Good job! I am thankful to everyone who worked towards this result. The occupiers are getting pushed back from Irpin, from Kyiv. But it is too early to speak about security in this part of the region. The combat is ongoing," said the President in his video address.
Zelenskyy said that russian troops control the north of Kyiv; they have resources and manpower and are trying to restore the damaged units. However, "even a level of losses at 90% is not a sufficient argument for them to stop."
"Hundreds and hundreds of units of burned equipment do not convince them that it will happen to everyone," said Zelenskyy.
He added that the situation remains tense in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv regions, Donbas, and the South of Ukraine.
As of today, 143 children are known to have died. The city of Mariupol remains blocked. Russian forces have not allowed a single humanitarian corridor today, didn't observe "silence."
"Now, we need a balanced and wise approach to the situation as much as possible. Without excessive euphoria from success. But also without working oneself up. We still need time. We still need weapons. We still have to fight, to persevere. We can't burn through all our emotions now. We can't raise expectations. So as not to burn out," continued the President.
In the operations brief on the Russian aggression on March 28, the General Staff of AFoU reported that the enemy was weakened and disoriented; many troops were cut off the supplies and the main force.
Today, Ukrainian defenders liberated the town of Irpin from the russian occupiers. Russian forces attacked the city in the first days of the war. On February 27, the mayor, Oleksandr Markushyn, stated that the attack was repelled, but the enemy started shelling the town from the air. As of last week, the forces of AFoU were in control of 80% of the territory of Irpin. On March 26, the mayor said that heavy combat was going on in the town for several days.
