Zelenskyy approves delegation for negotiations with russia

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved a delegation to participate in negotiations with Russia on the preparation and approval of a draft treaty on security guarantees for Ukraine.

The delegation was headed by the chairman of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Davyd Arakhamiya.

According to Decree No. 211/2022 of April 4, published on the president's website, the delegation also included Justice Minister Denys Malyuska, an advisor to the chief of president’s office, Mykhaylo Podolyak, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Deputy Foreign Minister Mykola Tochytskyy.

In addition, the delegation's experts include international lawyer Oleksandr Malynovskyy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Oleksandr Chalyy.

People's Deputies of Ukraine Andriy Kostin (Servant of the People faction), Dmytro Lubinets (For the Future Group) and Rustem Umerov (Voice faction) were also approved as members of the delegation by consent.

The head of the delegation is authorized to change the composition in coordination with the minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine. The head of the delegation may also involve employees of state bodies, enterprises, institutions, organizations in ensuring the work of employees in coordination with managers, scientific advisers and experts.

The decree also approves the delegation's directives (attached in secret).

"The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should provide financing for expenses related to the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with the russian Federation on the preparation and approval of a draft agreement on security guarantees of Ukraine," the document says.

Earlier, Arakhamia said that representatives of russia at the talks verbally stated that they did not reject the proposals of Ukraine made at the meeting in Istanbul. The exception is the issue of Crimea.
