The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the proposal of Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban to hold peace talks with the president of the russian federation in Hungary.

This proposal was done by Orban yesterday at his press conference, where he indicated that Putin confirms it but has some “demands”. The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolaenko wrote on Twitter that if Hungary wanted to help it should stop damaging the unity of the EU. For now, the proposal to hold peace talks in Budapest is cynical.

“When Hungary doesn’t recognize the responsibility of russia for the massacre in Bucha, it increases russia’s confidence in its impunity and allows russia to commit new crimes,” – states the position of the Ministry.

On the 6th of April, Orban proposed to gather the heads of the Normandy Format countries (Ukraine, Germany, France, russian federation) in Hungary. During the same press conference, he confirmed the readiness to pay russia for gas in rubles and refused to support the embargo on russian gas.

After the evidence of russian barbarian crimes in the Ukrainian cities of Bucha, Irpyn, Gostomel and other settlements had been made public, the Western countries increased the pressure on russia, but Hungary was not going to support sanctions that relate to energy resources.
