The mayor of the temporarily occupied Kakhovka (Kherson region) Vitaliy Nemerets stated, that he left the city because of the danger to him and his family. Earlier, he refused to cooperate with the occupiers.

This is stated on the Facebook of the Kakhovka city territorial community.

"I believe that a dead mayor or mayor somewhere in the basement is of no use to the community. So I decided to leave the temporarily occupied Kakhovka to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is difficult to express in words the emotions when moving with the children through all the countless orc checkpoints: fear of kids, their frightened eyes from russian soldiers with machine guns, explosions, and mutilated equipment. And thousands of the same refugees", he said.

Nemerets added that he will continue to work.

"You should know that only the majority of deputies of the city council at a legitimate session can remove me from office or accept my resignation. Everything else is ‘the devil's letter’.

I hope to return home as soon as possible to my friends and colleagues – the mayors of Tavriya - Mykola Rizak, Gola Pristan - Oleksandr Babych, and Oleh Yakhnienko, head of the Mylivka village community. And also all other insidiously kidnapped Ukrainians", he said.

We remind, on 1 April the occupying russian troops have appointed the ‘new mayor’ of Kakhovka instead of the legal head of the city Vitaly Nemerets. Enemies broke into the premises of the Kakhovka City Executive Committee, gathered all employees in the assembly hall, and said that the "leader" will be the former deputy of the Kherson regional council from the “Opoblok” Pavlo Filipchuk.
