Tkachenko asks France to help restore cultural heritage

Ukrainian Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko appealed to the French government to financially support both the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the Ukrainian Book Institute. He talked about it on his Telegram channel.

He also specified that the French Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot Narquin expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian government and people. The points of financial and information support of Ukraine were discussed in this particular case.

“We need direct funding of Ukrainian culture and its creative non-governmental sector from France. We will be able to support our artists, performers, publishers, and creative industries through the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and Ukrainian Book Institute then. We definitely mention the budget level that Ukraine planned to allocate for both foundations before the war”, he stated. 

Tkachenko also announced the damaged immovable cultural heritage (through the "Great Restoration" project) restoring as well as and the need to stop broadcasting Russian channels through the French commercial satellite "Eutelsat".

The UCF has stated the 2022 grant season’s stop. The entire annual grant budget of 583m hryvnya was redirected to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
