Evidence of war crimes is being documented in Hostomel in the Kyiv region, where the russians struck on the first day of a full-scale offensive against Ukraine.

Police are also inspecting and demining all buildings, yards, and surrounding areas, according to the Kyiv police Facebook page.

"From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the occupiers committed looting, and used physical violence and shooting at civilians. Thanks to the Ukrainian defenders, Hostomel was released from the aggressor, and the Ukrainian President awarded the town the title of "Hero City", the police mentioned.

As of April 14, police had inspected 628 buildings. These are both residential and non-residential.

“As a part of the criminal proceedings under part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the laws and customs of war, law enforcement officers continue to document deaths of civilians, identify burial places, and conduct necessary investigative actions. Enemy munitions left by the russian military in forest parks, backyards and just on the streets of the town are being confiscated daily by the capital's explosives, their number is 266 for now. Among the ammunition there are many unused and unexploded shells, so painstaking work is underway to destroy them safely," it is said in the statement.

In Hostomel, according to the police, you can still smell the scent of burning from burned houses and cars. Most of the infrastructure has been destroyed.

For the occupying forces, Hostomel was a strategic point, because there is an airfield. The enemy tried to land his paratroopers on it.
