The government has three programs to rebuild housing damaged in the war with Russia - short-term, medium-term and targeted. This was stated in an interview with LB.ua by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Smirnov.
According to him, within the framework of the short-term program, the government is solving the issue of allocating places in social facilities: sanatoriums, schools, and tourist houses. Internally displaced people, victims of Russian aggression, who lost their homes can be temporarily housed there.
The Deputy Head of the President’s Office also reminded that the Shelter program had been launched. The program reimburses expenses to citizens who have agreed to shelter temporarily displaced persons. And the construction of temporary housing is underway: modular structures have already begun to be installed in Western Ukraine.
“The second block is a medium-term program. It enables the purchase of apartments from developers, co-financing construction close to delivery to complete the buildings as soon as possible, about six months. It is also a program to support the industry to stimulate housing construction," Smirnov said.
And the target program, he said, is to rebuild housing in the areas where it was destroyed.
"These are three blocs where the government, the President's Office and the President are directly involved. All these blocks are in progress, in the practical implementation stage, development of specific terms, deadlines, plans, funding, etc., " said the Deputy Head of the President's Office.
The first modular town for migrants was opened in Lviv on April 19th. Also, according to the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, there are 1,200 apartments in the region that the state could theoretically buy for IDPs.
