Almost no more people are willing to leave the Luhansk region, the head of the regional military administration Serhiy Haidai says.
Only 29 people were evacuated from Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk [during the last day]. About 50,000 residents remain in the region.
"Twenty-four residents of Lysychansk and five residents of Sievierodonetsk are already on their way to safety," Haidai said.
He says that the evacuation bus leaves the regional center almost empty every day for about two weeks. But on the other hand, there are a lot of applications for humanitarian aid.
"Food, medicine, and hygiene products are delivered to the bomb shelters by police, rescuers, and volunteers," the head of the Regional Military Administration said.
Haidai noted that 10% of citizens still stay in Sievierodonetsk. "The shelling and lack of communication do not seem to frighten people," he added.
At the same time, in Rubizhne and Popasna, the situation is the opposite: hundreds of people want to leave, but due to the density of shelling, evacuation is not possible.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has recently reported that more than 350,000 people were rescued from the areas of military operations.
Haidai has been urging residents of Ukraine-controlled settlements of the Luhansk region to evacuate since early April.
