The SSU prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Zaporizhzhia and detained its perpetrator. The attacker is a resident of Dnipro, born in 1966.
His goal was to sow chaos and panic in the city, so he planned a crime at a mass gathering site in central Zaporizhzhia, SSU spokesman Artem Dekhtyarenko said.
"He made the explosive device himself and disguised it under a crutch. He installed a pyro cartridge, an explosive in its cavity, and to enhance the effect of the damage - he filled the explosive with elements of impact: nails and bolts," the SSU said.
The attacker tried to "confuse the tracks" and two days before the planned date of the terrorist attack arrived in Zaporizhzhia from the western region.
"The SSU managed to reveal his criminal intentions and work ahead. Ukrainian special services detained him in an "underground" apartment, and the explosive was neutralized. Investigative and operational actions are underway,” is added in the SSU.
russian occupiers temporarily occupied some settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region, but the regional center is not occupied. The enemy is shelling the region and trying to establish an occupying "government" there.
