Zelenskyy: 42 states sided with Ukraine in case against russia in UN International Court of Justice

President Volodymyr Zelensky noted, that 42 states have already announced their intention to join Ukraine's lawsuit against the russian Federation in the UN International Court of Justice.

He wrote about this on Twitter.

“42 countries sided with Ukraine in the case against russia in the UN International Court of Justice and announced their intention to join our lawsuit,” Zelensky said.

“I am grateful to the partners who have chosen the right side of history. This is the side of truth, international law, and justice. Together we will bring russia to justice,” he added.

Earlier, on March 16, the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague decided to impose temporary measures on russia in the case of the war in Ukraine. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba explained that the court's decision at the highest legal level stated the fact of russia's invasion and determined that the unjustified aggression should stop.

Ukraine's lawsuit alleges that russia violated the Genocide Convention during the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, lawyers note, that international courts, including the United Nations, have no jurisdiction over russia's aggression. The UN Security Council is working on bringing to justice russia as responsible for the aggression, but russia has a veto there.
