Russians transfer Terminator infantry fighting vehicle toward Severodonetsk - British Intelligence

russia's only working group of IFV Terminator tank support vehicles is likely to be transferred to the Sievierodonetsk direction.

"Their presence indicates that the forces of the Central District of the russian Army, which is the only unit that has these machines, are involved in this attack," the military said.

russia developed the Terminator after realizing the need to provide special protection for the main battle tanks used during the fighting in Afghanistan and Chechnya. The Sievierodonetsk region remains one of russia's immediate tactical priorities, intelligence officials say. However, with a maximum of 10 "terminators", they are unlikely to have a significant impact on the capture operation.

The IFV "Terminator" is a russian version of the multi-purpose combat caterpillar fire support vehicle, made on the basis of the T-72 or T-90 tank. The IFV is equipped with an anti-tank complex "Attack-T" with ammunition, four missiles and a stated range of 400 to 6000 meters. In addition, it is armed with two automatic grenade launchers AGS-17D, two automatic guns caliber 30 millimeters 2A42 and a large-caliber machine gun PKTM.

The crew consists of 5 people: commander, gunner, mechanic-driver and two grenade launcher operators. Serial production of IFV takes place at Uralvagonzavod. In 2017, the IFV was tested in Syria. It was adopted in 2018 by the russian Army.

On May 22, russian troops tried to attack Sievierodonetsk city in the Luhansk region, but, having received a decent rebuff from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, retreated to their previous positions.

As reported by the General Staff on May 22, in the Sievierodonetsk direction, the enemy fired mortars and artillery at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces along the entire line of contact, concentrating efforts on the settlements of Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk.
